The Future In The Clouds

Software-defined networking (SDN) is a tool that has continued to make advancements since the term was inducted into the networking world. The SDN operates all processes of networking and allows controls of network services to reach higher dimensions of functionality. Since it encompasses many parts, the SDN is often made up of other applications and networking abilities. This is where wide area networks or WANs come into play. We’ll discuss hybrid wans, what a WAN is and how it helps a business/company and some of the advancements being made or that are forth coming for this particular technology.

How do WANs Benefit Businesses/Companies?

The wide area network function was created as an essential business tool for being able to access and exchange database items as well as other important information across a large distance. It helps connectivity between smaller portions of a company or a business securely deliver documents, research results, and other such items to a corporate owner or headquarters in a secure manner. This type of transfer used to be something that required businesses to pay big money for in order to acquire proprietary technology and networking capabilities to create this secure establishment of information and data transfer. The focus has in turn moved to cloud based WANs. These particular WANs don’t protect the business in a secure manner while saving them money from investing in expensive software or hardware.

Software Defined WANs (SD-WAN) are being used for internet connectivity and benefiting the consumer/customer as well. These newer cloud based systems really promote stronger internet connectivity and security. The internet connectivity can go through platforms such as virtual private networking (VPN) which help keep security in-check along with reliable internet sourcing. These open networks have allowed customers to reap the benefits as well. Cloud based WAN sources allow for software and technology to be open for businesses to take part in. The security measures remain the same or similar to those that operate under proprietary means which saves the consumers money as well. These additional benefits allow for companies to invest in such programming and network plans to be able to reduce their costs and still exchange data and software at a very low rate.

The cloud is continuing to increase the different avenues that businesses can operate in via these WAN groupings. Other WAN groupings can provide increased network capabilities, software capabilities, and office connections that haven’t been available in the past without a high cost associated with such groupings. It has created a certain types of specializations that allow for businesses and consumers alike to find their niche.
